First Week of School

I had a fairly successful first week of school in many aspects. It looks like my class schedule is not too hard and I shouldn't have a ton of homework this semester. So classes are looking good. It was also good to get back out on the basketball court with my teammates and play some 5 on 5. This week was my first full court games I've played since I left Seward for the summer.

With all the classes, basketball, and hanging out with friends, I felt I did a great job of spending enough time with Leah as well as mixed in some poker here and there. As for poker this week, I had very few losing sessions and no losing days. When those things happen, the numbers obviously rise and I ended up somewhere between $8,000 and $10,000 this week. I am so excited to see those numbers because I have had so many other things going on this week. I definitely believe that when a poker player has other fun things going on in his life, his poker playing will improve. This is another reason why there is no way I could just play poker for a living. I know that I would make more money if my days are busy and I fit poker in here and there then I would if all I had was poker. I went all week without Leah even seeing me play at all which is pretty amazing considering it is one of my top five best weeks pokerwise. She had no idea that I had been pwning a lot. It is not that she minds if I play, I am just glad that poker hasn't gotten in the way of our relationship.

This upcoming week is going to be exciting. Preseason basketball officially begins on Monday. Also, my brother is playing football against the University of Iowa (who is #16 in the preseason polls) on Saturday. So my dad is coming through Seward on Friday to pick me up and go to the game. It will be an awesome site to see my brother play football in front of over 80,000 fans. The game will be on ESPN U at 12:00 ET if anyone wants to watch it on tv. Well, that is what's on tap for the upcoming week. It should be a fun one.

Great Summer!

This summer was everything that I had hoped it'd be and more. The first month in Montana was sweet. Then Leah then came to Montana and she met all my crazy Montana friends. I am so excited that she liked them and they like her as well. My closest friends are here in MT and their thoughts mean a lot to me.

Then in June, Duncan, Colin, and I went on the trip of a lifetime to Europe. That was a trip that I will never forget. I am so glad that I was able to do something that many Americans will never have a chance to do. We saw a lot of famous European places as well as went to Wimbledon and saw Roger Federer play.

When I returned to the states, I went and saw Leah who I had missed a ton. I stayed at her house for a week and a half and then I headed to Las Vegas. I stayed in a house of about thirteen of the best young online players in the world. It was a such a great mix of guys. The tally of people and where they were from were : 1-Sweden, 1-Australia, 1-Florida, 1-Alabama, 1-Texas, 2-Illinois, 2-Nebraska, 1-California, 1-Michigan, 2- Minnesota, and me from Montana. That data is to the best of my knowledge. Anyway, I stayed there for a week and a half and had such a great time. I met and learned from some outstanding players including the current #3 player in the world. Vegas was sweet!

I returned back to Montana and the next weekend, my family went to Flathead Lake in Northwestern Montana. That lake is such an awesome lake, so we had a great time. Then this past weekend, I went to my friend Duncan's cabin with 12 other friends. That was also a good time to say the least.

Now I'm headed back to Nebraska to stay at Leah's for a few days before returning to Seward on Saturday. I can't believe I am already a college upperclassman! We start classes Monday so that'll be a change in lifestyle for me. It'll be different to actually have obligations again. Oh well. My class schedule should be pretty good considering I don't start until 11:00 am on Monday and Wednesdays, and I don't have class at all on Friday.

Anyway, that is a summary of my great summer and a look at my plans for the next week. I probably won't have much time for poker in the next week or so until I get adjusted to my schedule. That's all I got for now.

A lot of fun with some grinding on the side...

The last couple of weeks I have been doing a lot of catching up with my friends because this is the last summer that we all could be back in Billings together. Today, about 15 of us are going to my friend Duncan's cabin which is located right near the Yellowstone National Park entrance at Cook City. This is going to be a great weekend and I am excited to get out there to fish and four-wheel. I won't be back till Sunday night. That should be a lot of fun.

The last week or so I have been putting in a lot of short online sessions and have done fairly well. I can't remember the exact numbers, but my bankrolls on each site have raised substantially. It is always a delight to see those numbers rise. School starts on the 21st and I think I'm going to leave this Wednesday for Leah's for a few days before we head off to school. It will be nice to have something different to do, but my poker time is going to become a lot less. Should be a fun next couple of weeks though and I am ready to start my JUNIOR year of college. I can't believe I am already a college upperclassman. Alright, I'm off of for the cabin. Hopefully we all will return alive, but there are no guarantees.
