Friday and Saturday

Today was a fun day. I had a basketball practice at from 8:00-10:15 this morning which went pretty well even though it was early. Then Leah and her family picked me up to go to the Nebraska/Colorado game. Leah has been trying her hardest to turn me into a Cornhusker fan and she's starting succeed a little. It is just sooo much fun though to see these Nebraskans when the Huskers lose because that is all they care about. I don't know, I might have to eventually take one for the team and become a fan just so Leah and I will not get into unnecessary arguments. The game was more entertaining then the Iowa game I went to earlier in the year. Still neither of them top a Montana game, but this may be because I am such a die hard Grizzly fan and I am somewhat biased. Anyway, the game was still a lot of fun to be at.

I have an exciting day tomorrow. Shootaround at 10, watch my brother's football game on the internet at 1, and then play a game tomorrow night at 5:30 against a top 10 team in the country. I am really just excited for my brother's game. They host McNeese State in the first round of the Division 1AA playoffs. Montana is the #2 seed in the 16 team field and has homefield throughout until the National Championship game, if they continue to win. Hopefully they can turn this 10 game winning streak into a 14 game winning streak and bring home another National Championship to Montana. As you can tell, I'm a little excited and I wish I was in Missoula.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, I had no success in my the FTOPS main event on Sunday and I haven't really played poker since. Poker is slowly slipping out of my life. I just don't ever feel like playing anymore. This week, I have just been chilling here in Seward and playing basketball. Today, my girlfriend has family here in Seward with whom they are going to be celebrating Thanksgiving. I am going to be joining them. This is going to be a great day because I will focus more on giving glory to God and thanking him for all that he has done in my life. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Poker update

Cash games went really well this last weekend and then not so well after Sunday. I need to start writing down numbers so I can tell you how much I am up or down, but honestly, I have no idea where I was at last Friday. I know my Full Tilt roll has increased and my Doyle's Room roll has decreased. Anyway, I decided to take a day off from cash games today. It was going to be a day without poker, but I decided to procrastinate my homework even more and play in a FTOPS Main Event qualifier. It was a $75 buy in and top 4 qualify for the $535 buy in tourney. I grinded my way through it, showing very few hands. I ended up getting top 4 and then we all went all in and I lucksacked my way to the victory :) I am pretty excited for this tourney on Sunday. I have yet to have a big score in a tourney and hopefully Sunday will be the day.

Thanksgiving break is next week. Unfortunately, I will have to hang around Seward because of basketball. I am really anxious to get back home for 10 days during Christmas break. Basketball in going really rough for my team and me right now. Hopefully things will turn around. I'll update for sure after the FTOPS tourney if not before.

Montana update: My brother's team is now 9-1 overall and number two in the nation in IAA. Their only loss is to Iowa. They have a huge game this weekend against number two in the Big Sky Conference and arch rival, Montana State. "The Brawl of the Wild" should be a great game this year. Hopefully the Griz will come out on top.

First tourney in over a month...

Tonight for some reason I decided to take a break from homework and play in a tourney. I cannot remember the last tourney I played in. It has been at least a month though. Anyway, I played in the $69+6 $16,000 guaranteed on full tilt tonight and I played really well. I doubled up really early with AQ against JJ after a flop of QXX. Then I was got down again and really just grinded the shortstack all the way to the money. The best hand I saw all tourney was QQ and I stole with it. I just picked my spots and won a bunch of small pots when we hit the money. I then became an average stack somehow and I found myself at a table with the three biggest stacks of the tourney, and they were all on my left. That was mega-lame. I finally was moved to a new table and I started being aggressive. I was open raising a lot of hands before I finally decided to change it up a little and limp on the button with K10d. Anyway, here is my busto hand. I am really disappointed because I would have been 3rd in chips after this pot if it would have been shipped my way. In retrospect, I should've just raised and taken the blinds.

I thought for sure he was just on a flush draw until he called over 11K on the turn. Too bad for me that he was on a gutterball draw as well.

I took 23rd out of 356 entrants for a grand profit of $60. Ship Ship! It was nice to play in a tourney for a change and maybe, time permitting, I can fit a few more in here and there.

Boo-ray and some poker

I played boo-ray again for the second time ever tonight and pwned again. I started off cold and was down a quick $70 before I won a $90 and $160 pot in the next ten minutes. I ended up the boo-ray session up a nice $140. The game is so much fun.

I then came back to my dorm and grinded out a nice little session. I have had so many ups and downs at poker over the last few weeks, but I still keep making some money which is good enough for me right now. Poker always seems to be in the back of my mind these days. I remember the days where if I had 10 minutes in between class, I would get a couple rounds of a cash game in. Now, naps have become more of a priority and poker has been struggling to fit into my schedule.

It's pretty sad how excited I am already for summer vacation. I need a break from all of this responsiblity with school and basketball. It sucks because my girlfriend has tickets for her and me for this weekend's Nebraska/Missouri game AND the Nebraska/Colorado game on the day after Thanksgiving. But basketball conflicts with both and it really makes me mad because I have yet to attend a Cornhusker game. I miss the summer times when I can just do whatever I want at any time I want. If I wanted to wake up one morning and go on a road trip, I could've. I don't know, I'm sure all this responsiblity is good for me. I guess it is all a part of God's plan. I'll just try to keep trucking along.

Plans for Friday: Sleep in then grind a homework session because it has been piling on lately. Basketball at 5:00 and then hopefully something fun after that.
