First week of school and some poker

Well, the first week of school went fairly well. It is nice to have some new classes. Hopefully I will be interested in them for the whole semester instead of just the first couple of weeks like last semester. I like my schedule because I do not have any night classes and I don't have class until 1 pm on Fridays. So that is pretty nice.

Tonight I decided to play some poker. My roommate and I played in a $5 double stack, 90 person multi tourney on full tilt. I was 3 tabling 10/20 and 15/30 while playing that tourney. I was grinding away on the cash games when I reached the first break of the tourney. I then realized that I hadn't even won a hand yet. I was just under 2k in chips and we started at 3K. By the next break, I was chip leader in the tourney and had almost double the stack as the second place guy. I didn't even steal any blinds. I just played my big hands and got action from at least one or two guys on each. At this point, I was still just focusing on the cash games and just playing good hands in the tourney. All of a sudden, we were down to the final 15 players and I decided to close all my cash games except for one 10/20 HU game that was going well. As I was pwning this guy heads up 10/20, I played the final table. I knocked out 6 of the 7 players at the final table before getting HU with the last guy. I had a 4:1 chip advantage and not surprisingly, I blew it and took second. The main hand I remember was when we got it all in preflop when I had 200K and he had 50K. My 66 lost to his A9 on a XXXAX board. From there I just got pwned. Luckily we were only playing for like an extra $50. I ended up cashing in a nice $72.50 from my 2nd place finish and a good $1500 from the cash games (about $1000 of it came from this one guy heads up). So a pretty good night pokerwise for me.

Exciting note: My dad is driving down here for the week to watch three of my basketball games. He should be getting here sometime before my game this afternoon. It will be good to spend some time with him. Maybe I'll have him do some of my homework so he won't get bored staying here in Seward for a week :)
